Transfers

Transferring to a College of the University of London

Registering as an External student does not mean that you can automatically transfer at a later date and complete your studies at one of the Colleges of the University. To be considered, you will need to have passed syllabuses similar to those taken at the Colleges concerned and to have achieved very high marks. Competition is keen and a quota system operates; you will be competing with other applicants for a limited number of places.

You cannot usually be considered for transfer into the final year.

Transferring to another degree in the External Programme

Some External students ask to transfer to another degree in the programme. This may be because they are not enjoying their subject or finding aspects of it particularly difficult. More often, it is because they are having difficulty finding the specialist books and resources they need for that particular degree. The University advise you to check as far as possible before you register that the resources you need are available. Remember that transfer to another degree is not automatic, that you will need to have any special course-related qualifications required for that degree and that additional fees may be payable.

Transferring to other Universities: Economics Only

Transfer opportunities for BSc in Economics students

A number of universities in the United Kingdom are willing to consider accepting students who have completed the Foundation units of a degree in the fields of Economics, Management, Finance and the Social Sciences for External students. Consideration would be for direct entry into the second year and would be according to their individual terms and conditions.

Among the universities which will consider students are:

Brunel University
City University (London)
Queen Mary & Westfield College*
Royal Holloway*
London School of Economics*
Staffordshire University
University College Swansea
University of Bath

*Colleges of the University of London

Note: admission to these universities is not automatic. It is subject to the availability of places, competition for admission and the achievement of whatever examination grades each university may choose to specify. Further details are available on request from the relevant admissions tutor at each university. Students should apply through UCAS, giving full information.

This provides an opportunity for graduates of any discipline to gain an additional undergraduate degree by following a shorter than normal programme, successfully completing nine full units rather than twelve. This can normally be achieved in a minimum of two years with the exception of the BSc Economics, BSc Economics & Finance, BSc Development & Economics and the BSc Information Systems & Management.
