Applications are
open for scholarships to study the
Distance Learning MSc Clinical Trials (CT) course commencing
October 2008.
These scholarships are offered
by the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials
Partnership (EDCTP) and by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
Funding
The scholarships cover full
tuition fees to study the Distance Learning MSc Clinical Trials
course.
Criteria for the scholarship
The MSc Clinical Trials
scholarship is available only to a student who is a national
(permanently domiciled) of a Low Income country as indicated

Applicants will be assessed on
the following criteria:
- the academic merit of the
applicant
- how the skills and
qualification obtained from the MSc Clinical Trials would
benefit both the applicant and their institution, with
respect to current and/or future employment; and
- how the applicant would
apply their new skills and experience in order to impact on
the development of the applicant's home country.
Applicants for the EDCTP
scholarships will additionally need to meet the following
criteria:
- be a national of a
sub-Saharan African country
- be employed by a
sub-Saharan African institution with
EDCTP supported projects [pdf: 5pgs,
67KB] and planning to stay working at that
institution until two years after finishing the MSc.
- female candidates are
particularly encouraged to apply.
All applicants must also ensure
that they satisfy the standard criteria for admission to the MSc
Clinical Trials course.
Successful applicants will be
required to:
- complete a minimum number
of modules each year of the course
- give regular feedback to
the School, and
- co-operate with any
programme evaluations
- for the duration of their
scholarship
- and for a period of up to
five years after completion of the course.

Deadline for scholarship
applications
Applications must be received
no later than 30 April 2008.
Selection of
candidates
Scholarship applications will
be considered by a sub-panel of the LSHTM Scholarships
Committee. The successful candidate will be informed in June
2008. (The MSc course applications of those who are not
short-listed will continue to be processed.)
