Study Support

Students attend compulsory intensive courses in Years 1, 2 and 3 in the UK (but not necessarily in London). These supplement the tuition received through the submission of assignments.

As well as the obvious academic advantages of these courses, they enable students to get to know one another, and many keep in touch with each other for the entire length of the degree and beyond.

Year 1

January: two weeks of lectures, clinical demonstrations, laboratory work, seminars and tutorials in all first year modules.

Year 2

July: two weeks of lectures, clinical demonstrations, laboratory work, seminars and tutorials in all second year modules.

Year 3

September/October: two weeks of lectures, clinical demonstrations, laboratory work, seminars and tutorials in all third year modules.

It is a student’s responsibility to ensure that they make all the necessary travel and, if necessary, visa arrangements in order to attend the intensive courses.
  • If students consent, their name, address, telephone and fax numbers are circulated to fellow students to encourage a study support network and to prevent a feeling of isolation.
  • Personal support is given by letter, fax and telephone.
  • Tutorial guidance is given on the Report.
  • Students will be required to undertake practical work in their own surgeries during the four years. This is an essential part of the programme, and students will be required to show that they have completed it to a satisfactory standard. As part of the monitoring process for this work, students will need to possess approved video equipment. (Further advice on this will be given during the first residential fortnight.)
