How to Apply

You can either complete and return the application form by post, or you can now apply online.

Application by post

Complete the application form [PDF 64KB new window] or you may request a prospectus to be posted to you. You will find an application form stapled in the middle of the prospectus. Submit it, together with the required documentation as listed on the form, must be returned to the School of Oriental and African Studies not later than 31 October. Please note that there is a separate application form [PDF 64KB new window] for Short Course Scheme (Occasional Student Scheme).

Send the application form together with the documentation listed below. Please note that you also have to sign and return a declaration form  [PDF  66KB new window] when making your application.

Documentation required

(a) The original of your academic diploma or a certified copy (certified by the British Council, a solicitor or the awarding institution) plus an academic transcript where appropriate.

(b) A photocopy of a statutory document (eg birth certificate, marriage certificate or passport)

(c) A passport sized photograph

(d) A letter giving your reasons for wanting to study on with CeDEP together with relevant details of your previous education and work experience and your current occupation and responsibilities.

The completed application form, declaration and documentation must be returned to the Centre for Development, Environment and Policy (CeDEP), SOAS, no later than 31 October. Please send the documents to: The Administrator, CeDEP, University of London, High Street, Wye, Ashford, Kent TN25 5AH, UK.

You will be notified whether you have been accepted. If you are accepted you will be sent a registration form, fee payment slip and other relevant information at the same time as you are notified that your application has been successful.

The completed registration form and fee must be returned to CeDEP, by 1 January. Study materials are normally dispatched from December each year and are delivered by courier service. Study will commence in February.
