The Institute of
Education is the ‘Lead College’ and is responsible for the
programme's quality assurance. Founded in 1902, the Institute has a
distinguished reputation for its programmes of study and its research into
educational planning, practice, theory and policy. The Programme Director
for these qualifications is Dr Hugh Starkey.
The School
of Arts and Humanities is responsible for the design of the
programme and the development of course materials. The School of Arts and
Humanities brings together a team of nationally and internationally
recognised scholars with a wide range of specialist expertise. The School
has five main elements - Art, Design and Museology; Citizenship; History
in Education; Music; and Religion in Education. The School has a strong
commitment to lifelong teacher education in these areas, interfaced with
innovative research, in order to develop and support current and future
leaders in education, humanities and the arts both within the UK and
internationally.
